Hayleigh Chamberlain explores how social media can work for your business.
1. MAKE SURE YOUR BUSINESS HAS A TWITTER ACCOUNT
It’s hard to tell with technology when the latest social trends are in. In the past three years, however, Twitter has become a platform for all business types. It’s the best way of getting your business out there on the social map as it is such a huge empire for new potentials like yourself. Hashtags make your tweets. Don’t forget to add simple but powerful hashtags to engage new followers to your business. And, most importantly, always stay active.
2. CREATE A CAMPAIGN FOR WHAT YOU’RE TRYING TO ACHIEVE
Most brands and businesses create a campaign idea when promoting themselves. Since you’re a start-up independent, this may not be vital in the early stages, but there’s always time to prepare. Think about what your business does and target that in a way that will engage and help sell your business to other customers. Think big.
3. READ UP ON SOCIAL TRENDS FOR THE YEAR
This is an important one. There are thousands of articles out there on the newest trends in tech and social media. The more knowledge you have about the trends, the better you will get at learning how to adapt these trends for your business. For example, a big graphic design trend of 2017 is hand-drawn illustrations – how would that fit into your business? Search Google for ‘tech and social media trends of 2017’, and wait till around summer to explore 2018 trends. It’s all worth it.
4. LOOK AT WHAT OTHER BUSINESSES ARE DOING
Is there an independent business near you that’s doing well and you feel stuck on how to make your business even better? Look into these rival businesses and examine what they are doing to get to where they are. Are they creating amazing visual window displays or have they got a bright, eye-catching graphic sticker on their shop floor? Take notes. All of the little things could just help you out.
5. COLLECT A WIDE RANGE OF MAGAZINES THAT RELATE TO YOUR BUSINESS
Is your business a brand-new high-street fashion boutique, or a tech website development company? The way you create and present your ideas is important. It’s vital to collect inspiration and get the best ideas from the magazines targeted to your readership.
